“The Little Ghost” is one of the best fairy tales for young children by the well-known German writer Otfried Preußler. It is a kind story about a sweet little ghost that appeared at night and never harmed anyone. During the day, the little ghost slept in the attic of a castle—in a heavy oak chest reinforced with iron. And at midnight, when the clocks on the city tower struck twelve, with the last chime the ghost woke up and climbed out of the castle. The ghost really dreamed of seeing the world in sunlight. But once he got what he wanted, he realized that he didn’t need it at all, and earlier in the darkness of night it was much better. A very interesting and kind tale—a true and eternal childhood classic—teaches friendship and mutual help.
