May Night, or The Drowned Maiden

A young Cossack, Levko, is in love with the beauty Hanna, but his father—a village headman—wins the girl for himself and does everything in his power to prevent their wedding.

On a quiet May night, lit by the moon, Levko comes across a mysterious drowned woman who begs for help.

Supernatural intervention becomes closely intertwined with everyday concerns and trials, from which the fate of the lovers depends.
