Mikhail “Mike” Naumenko (1955–1991) was a poet, translator, musician, and one of the icons of “Russian rock.” Either a man—or a legendary hero. That’s why his literary biography has to combine features of a historical novel with “an Odyssey.” This is the book by Alexander Kushnir, “Mike Naumenko. Escape from the Zoo,” in which eyewitness memories are interwoven with undeniable documents, while personal impressions sit alongside analytical findings. The publication completes a triptych of the author’s books devoted to “the lives of forbidden people,” the heroes of the previous two volumes of which were Sergey “Captain” Kuryokhin and Ilya Kormiltsev.
The release of the audiobook is the final stage of a multimedia project by the publishers “Vyrgorod” and “Lunokhod” and the agency “Kushnir Production.” Thanks to the efforts of different companies, Alexander Kushnir’s book “Mike Naumenko. Escape from the Zoo,” which has become a bestseller in both print and electronic formats, is now available as an audiobook too. The book is read by DJ City Radio’s Maria Bravikova. The recording was directed and sound-produced by Aleksey Kulbatskiy, the leader of the group “Son Lemura.”
