Lucifer. Part 1

The first part of a trilogy of tragedies created by the Dutch playwright Joost van den Vondel in the 17th century. It explores themes of the fall and the struggle between good and evil through the image of Lucifer, an angel who rebelled against God. Vondel builds complex psychological portraits, investigating the nature of evil, the desire for freedom, and the consequences of rebellion against the divine order. Rich dialogues and a poetic style make “Lucifer” a significant work for studying both Dutch literature and human nature in general.
