To give up everything and go into a monastery. It seems today it’s harder than ever before. Why do our contemporaries decide to take this step? What paths lead people into a monastery? How does becoming tonsured change life—both outwardly and inwardly? The book is compiled based on the cycle of programs by Yulia Varentsova "How I Became a Monk" on the TV channel "Spas." Their stories of their new life in monastic form are told by:
• the head of the Department of the Accounts Chamber, abbot Philip (Simanov),
• a doctor-resuscitator, hieromonk Feodorit (Senchukov),
• a former theater and film actress, nun Olga (Gobzeva),
• the President of the International Orthodox Sretensky Film Festival "Meeting," nun Sophia (Ishchenko),
• the economic manager of the Moscow Holy Danilov Monastery, abbot Innocent (Olkhovoy),
• the head of the section of events and competitions of the Synodal Department for Religious Education and Catechesis of the Russian Orthodox Church, hieromonk Trifon (Umalatov),
• the head of the parish enlightenment sector of the Synodal Department for Religious Education and Catechesis of the Russian Orthodox Church, hieromonk Gennady (Votishko).
