Love and Freindship

The short novel “Love and Friendship,” written by Austen at the age of fifteen, is a parody of long-winded romantic works so popular in the 18th century. Laura, an experienced and adult lady, has already passed the age when a woman is threatened by persistent courtship from tiresome admirers and cruel persecution by stubborn fathers—she describes, in every detail, the misfortunes and twists of her life… This collection also includes two other early novels by Jane Austen—“Lady Susan” and “Leslie Castle.”
