Once, at sunset, during the Month of New Grass, a Lone Man passed by the tipis. Behind him he carried a huge eagle. Men and women loudly praised him, saying that the very sun itself favored the Lone Man—the eagle hunter. A young Native American, Little Otter, from the Blackfoot tribe, also wanted to become as skillful a hunter as the Lone Man. But on the road to his cherished dream, many hardships and dangers await him.
