The detective plot of the novel “The Razor’s Edge” intrigues from the very first minute: romantic adventures and spy passions lead the heroes “along the razor’s edge” in search of the legendary crown of Alexander the Great…
The second, favorite novel of the writer, “The Razor’s Edge,” became an answer to the problems that confronted the country and humanity by the beginning of the 1960s, when “garrison socialism” of the previous years had already gone into the past. Time demanded (and still demands!) new approaches to governing society and raising people, the development of sciences about man, the unification of all sensible forces of the planet in the struggle for nuclear disarmament, and true socialism.
It is precisely all this that Efremov sought to show in the form of an adventure novel “with a touch of the Haggard style.”
