Description
How can you live on the edge—no, beyond the edge of the land—on a tidal island blown by all winds? Far from big cities and familiar entertainments? But such people do exist: they come here, fall in love with Cornwall forever, and stay to live, work, and be happy.

One of them is Polly Waterford—perhaps not spoiled by luck, yet not burying her talent in the ground: she can bake wonderfully tasty bread. She has a favorite job, a favorite person, and a favorite home pet (in fact, it’s a sea bird)—and all three live in a lighthouse (there was no other housing on the island). But, as often happens, the idyll doesn’t last long. In the small bakery where Polly works, the owner changes, and she’s told to get out. After all, she simply doesn’t know how to compromise on the quality of ingredients!

The lighthouse residents go through hard times and come up with a plan to save everything. But to carry it out, they’ll have to part with something—maybe for a long time. And when, at last, they manage to get step by step closer to their goal, comes a truly lovely, lucky, clear day that promises nothing bad…
