Lecture: "Women in History. Nefertiti"

At the request of many people, after two years we are resuming Natalia Basovskaya’s course «Women in History». Each lecture presents a new name, a new life, and sometimes even a new drama. The name Nefertiti translates from ancient Egyptian as «The Beautiful One has Come,» which perfectly describes her. What did the world look like 3.5 thousand years ago? What laws governed the life of Queen Nefertiti’s chief priestess? How did she become not only the main wife but also an ally of her husband the heretic Amenhotep IV, who had a large harem? Why did she wear pharaonic clothes, and why did she persecute the setting sun in a golden chariot? We’ll talk about Nefertiti, the heroine of fantastic works and ruler of a huge empire stretching from Nubia to Syria, Palestine, and Libya.
