Lecture: "Turkic Languages — Not Just Turkish"

This lecture offers an exciting exploration of Turkic languages. Around 180 million people speak these languages across a vast territory from Cyprus to Kolyma. Despite their diversity, Turkic languages share general grammatical principles, a significant amount of similar vocabulary, and phonetic features. In the lecture, the following topics will be covered: the difficulty of learning Turkic languages for Russian speakers; identifying the key language among Turkic languages; the fate of the languages of this group that have disappeared or are disappearing; and how culture and religion influence their development.

Dmitry Petrov, a polyglot, psycholinguist, and simultaneous interpreter who speaks 35 languages, will share his knowledge about the history, evolution, and features of Turkic languages, explaining how the supposed difficulties in mastering them can actually make learning easier. He has developed a unique intensive learning methodology that allows you to acquire a foreign language in a short time—just 16 lessons—confirmed by the experience of his many students.
