Lecture: "Parental Neurosis"

Lecture: "Parental Neurosis"

1 hr. 48 min.
Description
For years, parents raised children without thinking about how their actions, deeds, and emotional state affect them. But today everything is different: the child needs to be accepted, understood, met with their needs, and their feelings accepted… As a result, modern parents are afraid to tell their child something “wrong,” to hurt them, or to not love them enough.

Psychologist Lyudmila Petranovskaya calls this state “parental neurosis”—a situation where the parent thinks about the child, about problems with the child, about their behavior, development, etc. much more than about themselves, their interests, and needs: “Is it enough that I accept my child? Am I bothering them with my attention? If I just sat on Facebook now, didn’t it cause their deprivation? When I tied a scarf for them, wasn’t that hyper-care?”

This is what we will talk about in a lecture by psychologist Lyudmila Petranovskaya.
