Lecture 'Heroes and Destinies. Maya, Lilya and Others'

Aazariy Plietsky grew up in an outstanding family: his sister was the famous Maya Plisetskaya, and Asaul and Elizaveta Messerer were his uncle and aunt. The artist Boris Messerer was his cousin. Aazariy himself became a ballet legend—he wasn’t only a witness to the golden age of world ballet, but also actively helped shape it. Among the notable figures in his life were Galina Ulanova, Liliya Brik, Gianni Versace, and Mikhail Baryshnikov. Plisetsky collaborated with outstanding choreographers, including Maurice Béjart and Roland Petit. He is known as a ballet performer, choreographer, and globally recognized teacher. As the younger brother of Maya Plisetskaya, he for a long time performed at the Bolshoi Theatre, helped develop Cuban ballet, and taught in Roland Petit’s ballet troupe in Marseille. For many years, his fate was closely connected with the collective and school of Maurice Béjart.
