In a science-fiction novel, the main character Istomin, a specialist in future rescue operations, deals with extinguishing volcanoes and saving spacecraft. He encounters incomprehensible phenomena and is forced to remember his military skills to face a new threat. No matter the era, there are always those who rescue others. Even though humanity mastered interstellar travel, problems still arise—and there are always people willing to risk everything to save the people in danger. Lieutenant Istomin, having left military service, now fights natural disasters and rescues ships in distress. His work brings both adrenaline and decent pay. But unexpectedly, everything begins to spiral out of control, and he has to deal with the crisis at hand.
