On one of the quiet streets of the Montmartre hill, Yann and her daughters Rosette and Annie were found sheltering. They live peacefully—and even happily—in an apartment above their small chocolate shop. The wind, which in the past used to constantly force them to move from place to place, has finally calmed down—at least for now. Nothing sets them apart from the other residents of Montmartre, and beside their door, the red herbal sachets that ward off evil no longer hang.
But suddenly Zozie de l’Alba enters their lives—a woman in bright red, glittering shoes that look like candy—and everything starts to change rapidly… “Candy Shoes” by Joann Harris is a new encounter with the characters from the famous novel “Chocolate,” brought to life in the Hollywood film of the same name directed by Lasse Hallström (with Juliette Binoche, Johnny Depp, and Judi Dench in the leading roles), nominated for an Oscar in five categories.
