“LChK” is, by genre, one of the popular dystopias of our day. D. Markovich conceived it in the very spirit of “1984.” It raises deep questions about freedom of creativity, responsibility toward the future, and the fate of an artist in a totalitarian state—yet at the same time it contains a lot of irony, grotesque imagery, hints, slyness, and simply fun. The work is written both seriously and not quite—so to speak, not entirely for full seriousness. Its heroes are often clumsy, funny, even strange… And yet, overall, “LChK” is a serious thing: a cautionary tale. It is anxious about the future and hopes for victory of the human in the person.
