Music-loving Nikolai Zotov is suddenly transported to the 1920s, the period after the Civil War, when the country starts to rebuild. His knowledge of the future and his passion for jazz become both his ordeal and his salvation in those times, when for performing “bourgeois music” you could lose your life. A music enthusiast and aspiring musician, he finds himself in the early 20s, when the country is still reeling from the Civil War and preparing to build socialism—yet Nikolai has his own ideas about it.
