The Dollhouse

The collection “Doll’s House” includes two mysterious stories united by the theme of dolls.

The heroes of the first story—Stanislava and Mikhail—are a happy married couple. Together with their six-year-old daughter Nastya, they travel to a country house that was left to them as an inheritance from a deceased aunt. Their plans are to put the house in order before selling it and to stay a week away from the city bustle. Among other old things, a magnificent little dollhouse is found. Once, when Stasya was a child, she dreamed of something like it. The couple decides to keep the dollhouse. Soon, both father and daughter will regret this. In the second story, “Rag Doll,” the heroes learn that dolls can not only help a woman have a child and protect from trouble, but also bring curse and death. They will have to fight for their daughter’s life.
