The novel "Who’s to Blame" is a coming-of-age story about a boy whose life was not easy. He lives with his parents on the outskirts of Rome; their family is constantly facing financial difficulties and lives in isolation from relatives. A meeting with his mother’s wealthy relatives on Jewish Passover changes his life—opening up new possibilities, but also confronting him with tragedy. Moving into bourgeois circles, enrolling in a prestigious school, and making new acquaintances do not free him from inner struggles and the search for people to blame for his family’s misfortunes.
