It’s in vain that people think small villages are filled with an atmosphere of calm and peace—sometimes mysterious and terrifying events happen there. Writer Artemida Yuzik and her assistant from the publishing house “Bukovka,” Lyudmila Blablas, had the misfortune to find out firsthand. They came to Serebrinovo to hold a contest for aspiring authors and, at the same time, gather material for a new book.
The plot was supposed to be based on an old story: one of the villagers wrote a false report against the chair of the collective farm, and the man was jailed. Artemida Yuzik assured the public that the novel would reveal the identity of the traitor—but she and her companion died tragically.
The murder investigation was taken up not only by the police, but also by the Yaryopol sisters—the unfairly convicted chairman happened to be their own grandfather…
