Funny, engaging characters—Cheburashka and Crocodile Gena—have long been symbols of kindness and friendship, even since Soviet times. Cheburashka is a touching little creature that ended up in a crate of oranges; he’s depicted very tenderly and sweetly. You want to protect him, and you want to be friends with him. Crocodile Gena is nothing like an evil crocodile from the Amazon. He is an intelligent crocodile, and it is he—big and formidable—who becomes Cheburashka’s best friend. The story takes place among Soviet realities: adults who still remember those times will definitely smile, and for children the adventures of friends will become simply a fun story.
Based on this work, a series of wonderful animated films was made. In stores you can still buy toys portraying the heroes. Not so long ago, Cheburashka and Crocodile Gena were a real hit.
This book is about friendship, mutual help, and a common cause—about how lonely danger threatens such anti-heroes as Shapoklyak. “Crocodile Gena and his friends” is an anecdote for adults and an interesting fairy tale for children.
