The Fortress of Port Arthur
This book continues the series of joint works by Fedor Konyukhov and Ilya Ilyin, created to tell children and teenagers about heroic pages of our history. One such page is the battle for Port Arthur. In 1904, the fortress heroically defended itself for almost eleven months after Japan’s treacherous attack. In a popular, accessible form, the book tells about the events of the defense of Port Arthur and will surely be of interest to young listeners.
Fedor Fyodorovich Konyukhov is a professional traveler, a captain of long-distance vessels, a pilot of a free airship, a driver on dog sled teams, an alpinist, a writer, and a priest. Among Konyukhov’s achievements are five circumnavigations and multiple crossings of the Atlantic Ocean: 16 times aboard sailing yachts and once aboard a rowing boat.
