Description
“The Kreutzer Sonata” by Leo Tolstoy — narrated by Maxim Sukhanov.
A world and Russian classic, Leo Nikolayevich Tolstoy was already, during his lifetime, dubbed “the head of Russian literature,” and was nominated for the Nobel Prize four times.
What are great writers like? As it turns out, in many ways they are like us. Leo Nikolayevich, for example, suffered from depression, which is considered a modern ailment, and was treated with kumis in a yurt near Samara… He also pondered difficult questions. Should you follow your heart—or your reason? Should you go along with society—or pursue your own dream? How to fight your own vices: ambition, egoism, and carnal passion? Such are his characters as well. Lovers and the unloved. Loyal and disloyal. Searchers—and those who have lost everything. Those beginning their journey and those who have already crossed the line where “neither forgiving nor asking for forgiveness was any longer possible.”
