Description
To mark the 175th anniversary of the railways of Russia, the magazine “SNOB,” with the support of the publishing house “ACT,” launched an initiative to create a book entirely made up of essays, stories, and travel diaries, in which the theme of travel would be the main plot-forming motive. Life as an endless road, as an adventurous adventure, as a trip whose final stop remains unknown until the very end. The very title of the book, borrowed from the famous express that has been running for more than 80 years between Moscow and St. Petersburg, instantly evokes associations with rail themes. However, the contributors of the collection were free to choose what kind of transport to use for their journeys around the world. Because the geography of the book is vast: here are Japan and Israel, Chechnya and Venice, Prague and China—while at the end there is a special bonus for all readers: a photo-essay by Anton Lange about his unique journey along Russia’s railways.
