Fourteen-year-old Dick has a strange gift: he can hear the “voices” of objects. Is he possessed by demons? Or is it a divine gift? Maybe Dick is simply a poet? A minstrel, as they called them back then… Grief and injustice drive him away from his native village. He goes to London—the “golden city.” City dwellers are free people and bathe in gold, Dick believes. Because of his naivety and the will of a cruel accident, he ends up in deadly trouble. But an unusual acquisition—a small cat in a sack—changes his entire life. The book is written based on an old English legend.
