Lullaby for a Brother

At the beginning of the school year, a teacher accuses seventh-grader Kirill Vekshin, in front of the entire class, of stealing a wallet from a student intern—an act he did not commit. The only clue is that he happened to be in the teachers’ cloakroom by chance, and, without wanting to be humiliated, he did not allow his pockets to be searched.

Kirill learns that the wallet was stolen by the quiet and unobtrusive Petya Chirkov. At first Kirill wants to force him to confess everything, but finds out that Petya stole the money in order to pay off bullies. Kirill decides to help Petya and throws himself into a showdown with a gang of thugs led by someone called Dyba.
