“The Bell for Hamp.” An exciting novel based on real events that tells about Ernest Hemingway’s confrontation with fascist agents in Cuba during World War II.
In 1942, a talented federal-service agent Joe Lucas working under Edgar Hoover receives an unusual assignment: to go to Cuba, earn the trust of the famous writer Ernest Hemingway, and closely monitor his actions, reporting about them regularly.
Hemingway suggests founding a secret organization to identify German spies, but his ideas are dismissed as fantasies. Lucas also thinks of Hemingway as a bored dilettante—until, during their improvised “games of spies,” a mysterious encrypted letter is discovered, giving the events a serious turn.
