Description
“Kognata” is a mature fairy tale in which themes of love, hostility, and the price we pay for our convictions intertwine.

The work is filled with literary allusions and references, including the works of Krapivin, Bogomolov, and the Strugatskys. Yet all of this unfolds in a unique atmosphere and style of Alexei Salnikov: at the intersection of genres, with a dynamic plot, distinctive humor, and unexpected twists.

Alexei Salnikov is a well-known poet and prose writer, a recipient of the awards “The Big Book,” “National Bestseller,” and “New Horizons.” He is one of the most famous contemporary Russian authors.

Born in 1978, Alexei Salnikov wrote novels such as “The Petrovs in the Flu and Around It,” “The Department,” “Indirectly,” and “Occult Trigger,” as well as several poetry collections. He is a laureate of “The Big Book” and “National Bestseller” awards, and also a finalist of the “NOS” prize.

“Kognata” is Salnikov’s new novel about the interaction between people and dragons.

The main character, Konstantin Konstantinovich Konstantinov, is bored with routine work in state structures. Suddenly, he is assigned an important mission: to escort a girl-dragon, Kognata, into the empire of dragons. Konstantin is an experienced veteran, but the young dragon girl is no ordinary person—she’s a real aristocrat. Their meeting could change the fates of both worlds, though for now no one knows it.
