"The Book of Job" is the canonical Old Testament book named after the righteous man. In Christian tradition, it belongs among the wisdom/teaching books.
Job is the happiest man in all human history. He achieved prosperity and righteousness, and universal respect—worthy and fair, “for his deeds”; remembering the Lord and helping the needy, he had a large and pious family. But one day, he lost everything. Literally everything.
The Book of Job is most likely the hardest of all the books of the Holy Scripture—for those like Job, and for all of us, the ordinary people. What are we supposed to do, not heroes and not equals to Job in our faith, in our steadfastness, and in boundless devotion to the Lord?
