In the woods near Memphis, an ordinary teenager is an unwilling witness to the suicide of a respectable man. And before his death— as it later turns out, an attorney for a mafia group— the suicide leaves him a dangerous secret.

That’s how the boy finds himself caught between two fires: on one side, overzealous “defenders of the law” pressure him, ready to break any rules just to get the information; on the other side, a hired killer starts hunting him—someone for whom it is vital to hide this information forever.
