Description
The publisher “Rosmen” presents a new title in the BestThriller series: Steff Hoover’s novel “The Cell.” This gripping thriller with elements of a detective story unfolds from several angles at once.

Besides the criminal and his pursuer, several other people are drawn into this dark story, and the author skillfully offers us multiple versions of the same events as seen through different heroes. As for which of these heroes can be trusted and which cannot—readers will have to figure it out themselves.

The setting is an elite private school that has become a real prison for its students. It’s a kind of exile for those whose parents have enough money to solve any material problems, but don’t have the strength or desire to take care of their own children—at least that’s how the prisoners of these gloomy walls see the situation. And the newcomers, including Sell and Amelia arriving in the new school year, quickly understand where they’ve ended up: students’ rooms are locked at night, and leaving the school is strictly forbidden. No parties, no smoking, no alcohol. And be sure that nothing will be hidden from the eyes of the formidable Mrs. Pauff, the local supervisor. Oh, and it’s almost impossible to escape from here.

But one of the students—the quiet, unassuming Brad Griffith—did vanish without a trace last school year. What happened to him?

The police’s main theory is an escape, but what sense is there in running away a couple of weeks before summer vacation, leaving everything behind? The older sister of the missing student, Sheila, is categorically not satisfied with either the police’s inaction or the school principal’s visible indifference. Sheila infiltrates the closed world of the school and fearlessly begins her own investigation.

But anyone who goes into the cage has to be prepared for the possibility that one day the door might close behind them forever…

The novel “The Cell” is built in the best traditions of classic detective thrillers. As Sheila gets closer to the solution, tension steadily increases: almost anyone could be involved in her brother’s disappearance—from the mysterious gardener to the most harmless-looking students.

The situation is complicated by the fact that unexpected feelings break into the lives of each of the main heroes: fleeting infatuations and jealousy, friendship and forgiveness. But the intrigue lies not only in the investigation of the crime committed in the present. A retrospective plan of this story—tied inseparably to someone’s past—gradually unfolds before the readers.

Fans of detective stories will undoubtedly enjoy spotting new details and comparing different versions of events, until the missing pieces of this puzzle are finally assembled and, together with Sheila, the mystery of Brad Griffith’s disappearance is solved. But will the brave detective be able to prevent new victims?
