The title of the audio book comes from the story “Clara Milich,” which is included in Turgenev’s cycle of “mysterious tales.” According to the well-known Russian literary scholar Lev Pumpyansky, “Clara Milich” is “Turgenev’s last major work, his masterpiece on the eve of death—perhaps the best of all the tales he ever wrote.” The audio book also includes the stories “The Dog,” “A Father’s Story (About Father Alexey),” “The Hours,” and “A Song of Triumphant Love.”
