The book is a teaching guide for adults who want to help their children—and themselves—finally start speaking English! The course was developed in accordance with the principles of the author’s educational technology KESPA. The creator of the method, Inna Givental, proposes expanding one’s knowledge not by starting from the unfamiliar foreign language (English), but from the familiar native one (Russian).
The accompanying audio course, like the book, is intended for all ages, but especially for children, who are encouraged to take this course together with their moms, dads, grandfathers, and grandmothers, for effective English study based on familiar native Russian. Special attention is paid to developing speaking and listening comprehension skills, in which the audio will help; in addition, the audio recording includes the authors’ amazing stories about themselves. In the recordings you will also find special speech exercises, which are extremely important for developing speaking skills. When you and your children complete all 114 entertaining lessons, neither you nor the children will be troubled any longer by the question: “How do you say it in English?”
Reader’s opinion: I completed this book, and the result pleased me. For everyone who has successfully completed an older version of this textbook, this book has no value. But for those who are just starting to study conversational English, it will be just right. To study with this system, no prior knowledge is needed, well, except that it would be good if you knew how to read words correctly. For those who are not familiar with Givental and her “KESPA” system at all, I will say the following: the textbook is as simple and effective as possible, but at the same time it requires persistence, great persistence, and quite a lot of time. The principle is simple: you read repeatedly and involuntarily memorize structures/models from everyday dialogues. Plus, of course, you build vocabulary and learn some grammatical aspects.
