Three miscarriages in four years.
“Let’s try again,” my husband said.
“Sterile,” they whispered behind my back.
When the test finally showed two lines, I believed in a miracle. I rushed to my husband. I wanted to see happiness in his eyes.
But I saw her—on his desk. In his office. Under our wedding photo.
Four months. The whole city knew. Everyone except me.
And then my mother-in-law came to the hospital. She smiled:
“Sterile. That’s who you are. Let go of my son. To a woman who is capable of giving birth. She’s already pregnant.”
