The Outcast. Almayer's Folly

Joseph Conrad was a famous writer of neoromanticism and influenced many authors, such as Hemingway, Faulkner, and Graham Greene. His novel «The Outcast» tells about Peter Willems, who leaves the colonial society in Malaysia and then falls in love with a Muslim woman, making an incredible choice: he gives up the privileges of a white European. When his friend, Captain Llingard, becomes the target of a conspiracy by an Arab adventurer, Peter has to choose between whites and Muslims. The collection also includes the novel «Olmeier’s Caprice», which is a continuation of Peter Willems’s story.
