“The Trial of Truth” is the story of a family in which everyone is unhappy in their own way. Hanna is the daughter of an artist and a literature professor, who takes part in anti-war protest rallies in Vietnam more often than she gives lectures. She has always felt herself too ordinary for such parents. After marrying a medical student and moving to a small town in Maine, Hanna suddenly realizes that she had dreamed of a completely different life. Fate gives her a chance to change everything. But should she use it?
Thirty years later, Hanna’s daughter disappears after an ill-fated affair with a married man. Under the weight of the misfortune that has fallen upon them, the seemingly solid family life cracks visibly. And the past, very untimely, reminds itself.
