July in the distant 1980s is in full swing. A blessed priest summoned a police and fire unit to the children’s camp “Vasilek,” claiming that there was a methane leak in the dining hall. But in the camp, instead of a gas leak, investigator Vorontsov uncovers a real emergency: a mutilated boy pioneer, a corpse, two deranged teenagers, and the disappearance of the nurse. The children tell tales about the mirror world, mushrooms, and vampires… “Strange things are happening,” Captain Vorontsov thought when he heard the story from a young priest—Father Pavel. Unexpectedly, Vorontsov believes the victims. It turns out that the captain himself hadn’t come empty-handed after all, and had stashed a few trump cards up his sleeve. Only one thing torments the investigator: did the pioneers “finish it off” or is evil hiding among the pine trees until better times?
