An Interesting Patient

Sergey Auslender is a Russian and Israeli journalist. Born in 1972 in Khabarovsk. In 2009, he was diagnosed with cancer—Ewing’s sarcoma of the ankle. A year and a half after a difficult course of treatment and a complex operation, the disease relapsed, and his leg had to be amputated. After rehabilitation, he returned to ordinary life and continues working in television. Married, father of two children. He wrote this book to tell his story of fighting cancer. “My book isn’t about illness… It’s about recovery. About the path you have to take. It’s very long, and you have to go through it yourself. Even if there are devoted and loving people around you, they can’t take your pain and suffering on themselves. Think of it as instructions on how to survive the illness, defeat it, and not lose yourself.”
