An extraterrestrial object activated by a NASA space probe transfers information matrices of several people from the first quarter of the twenty-first century into the minds of people living at the end of the nineteenth century. One of the invaders turns out to be an uninvited guest inside the mind of Grand Duke Vladimir Alexandrovich—the third son of Emperor Alexander II. After coming to terms with the presence of the intruder, Vladimir Alexandrovich studies the guest’s knowledge from the future and is horrified at the realization of the approaching catastrophe. Attempts to explain to Nicholas II the errors in the country’s financial and economic development model do not lead to the desired result: the tsar is deaf to the voice of reason. With no other way out, Vladimir Alexandrovich uses the invader’s knowledge and abilities and takes power into his own hands.
