The figure of the legendary ancient Greek poet Homer is still shrouded in mystery, yet it is he to whom the creation of the greatest works of world literature is attributed—the Iliad and the Odyssey, epics that have withstood the test of centuries with honor. Homeric epic had a colossal influence on the literature of different countries and became one of the key sources that gave a powerful start to the great European poetic tradition.
The book includes both of Homer’s poems in classic Russian translations by Nikolay Gnedich and Vasily Zhukovsky.
The edition is supplemented with extensive commentary and a dictionary of mythological and geographical names and titles.
