“Nothing like that will ever happen to me,” “it’s fiction, it doesn’t happen that way in life”—we often repeat, listening to someone else’s story about their life and not realizing that fate is already standing behind our back, smiling and getting ready to deliver a surprise or plan a prank. Life sometimes reminds me of a small child—affectionate and gentle, yet also capricious and unbearable. Sometimes evil and merciless, with no boundaries to what’s allowed. And then, just a minute later, it gives you such happiness that you want to die.
