A toad sometimes doesn’t just choke—you can even get shot at from all its tower guns. Junior commander of the raider “Gladius” Viktor Sereda found out firsthand when, along with the surviving crew members Kopan­yagin and Tappi, he was forced to urgently eject onto the planet Гаганда. And they had to do it under the stormy fire of a Wesku­sian cruiser. The Wesku­sians turned out to be non-humanoids and looked most of all like gray-brown-red toads—hence their nickname sebums. But what do you do with toads? You have to shoot them! From all tower and non-tower weapons—until full clearance.

However, the sebums were in no hurry to agree. And, oddly enough, some Earthlings didn’t agree either. Traitorous pacifists managed to infiltrate even the ranks of the hastily created Volunteer Fleet. Well, with these people, Sereda’s conversation was especially short…
