1944. On one of the front-line airfields of Soviet aviation, a temporary lull. Three young pilots—Sergey Arkhipov, Veniya Gurevich, and Zhenya Sobolevsky—while waiting for the resumption of flights, play football with a tin can and make liquor with a talkative name: “Chassis.” But their pleasant idleness ends very quickly. Command gives the crew a task: to find and photograph the airfield where enemy fighters are based.
The novella “Chronicle of a Dive Bomber” was written by Vladimir Kunin in 1966, and already a year later a film of the same name was released, with one of the leading roles played by the wonderful actor Oleg Dal. According to viewers and critics, this film became one of the best pictures about the feat of the pilots during the Great Patriotic War.
