Up the river, to the north, following a living ship and a silver-blue dragon, the Knot of Moolkin makes its way—the last of the people the prophet with golden eyes was able to gather. This journey is extremely difficult and dangerous, but the snake people cannot survive if they don’t reach the nesting place where they can overwinter in life-saving cocoons and produce offspring.
But even if the goal is achieved and new dragons hatch from the cocoons, who will take on the task of protecting and caring for them—helpless and unwise—in a world torn apart by war?
