From a review. I fell in love with Chase’s story “Hippies on the Road” from the very first five pages. How much I liked the main character, Harry Mitchell! He embodies an ideal of a man—both in appearance and in inner qualities. Holding my breath, I followed his adventures in a small beach town in America. With every chapter, the author amazed me with his ability to twist the plot so that the turns are so shocking you want to spend a few minutes thinking and realizing what you’ve just read. An astonishing description of the characters: their portraits practically appear in your head without needing much imagination. And, of course, a dazzlingly unexpected ending. In this story, James Hadley Chase showed the best side of his talent.
