Description
Joseph Henri Roni Sr. (real name: Joseph Henri Honoré Boëx, 1856–1940) was a French writer of Belgian origin. He authored adventure prose and novels about mankind’s prehistoric past, and he was one of the founders of the science fiction genre. Up to 1909, he wrote together with his younger brother Sérafin-Justien-François, who later took the pseudonym Joseph Henri Roni Jr. Listeners are offered an audiobook version of the adventure novel “Helgor of the Blue River” (1929).

The story is set in a time when mammoths were still alive and humans fought for their place in the sun alongside wild animals. The main character, whose name the novel bears, is a young warrior from the Umars tribe living in the lower reaches of the Blue River. Living next to Helgor and his people is hardly pleasant—there are the cruel, bloodthirsty tzohks. One day, an earthquake destroys all the women of the tzohks, and they decide to kidnap their neighbors’ wives and daughters. Unfortunately for them, most of the Blue River warriors went hunting. What will Helgor do? What will he oppose to his enemies? Want to know? Listen!
