For several weeks the city has been filled with rumors—versions keep replacing one another, becoming less believable and more mysterious. What happened? An execution, a ritual killing, a sacrifice, a series of murders? Who is the killer? A maniac, a Satanist, a goth who is carrying out the image of a living dead? The townspeople scare one another, keep children from going to school and out for walks, husbands meet their wives from work. From TV screens, the photo of a woman who has been found dead in an old cemetery won’t leave the viewers. Tension is rising.

In these conditions, a young investigator Kostin must unravel the case—moving from the initial version to establishing the truth—without yielding to the temptations that accompany his profession.
