Johanna Spyri’s book “Heidi” was first published in 1880 and immediately became popular. Four years later, it was translated into English and became a favorite in Great Britain and the United States. “Heidi” is rightly considered a masterpiece of world children’s classics.

The main character, Heidi, is an orphan girl who lives with her grandfather in the Swiss mountains. Vivid descriptions of magnificent Alpine landscapes are combined with an inspiring story about how a small girl brings to other people a world without room for gloom and hostility.
