From A. Mikhailov’s book “Thieves in Our Garden”
Thieves in Our Garden
Even the title of this book looks like a journey into a tempting far-away: here is a garden touched by dawn mist, here are young thieves who’ve come for someone else’s apples. These are images from the hero’s childhood from one of the stories in Anatoly Mikhailov’s book.
With age, you’ll come to understand that, for “someone else’s apples”—that is, books and songs prohibited by censorship, thoughts and feelings—you can end up in places that are not so far away. But even there, experiencing fear and need, you can still remain an intelligent person—a rare type of modern human.
