Description
The vacation of special cases investigator Maxim Rayenvald at a tropical resort was ruined. The investigator witnessed the deadly attack of a shark on a Russian diver. Local authorities, worried that the resort’s reputation is suffering, insist: the killing wasn’t an accident, and the origins of the crime must be sought in snowy Russia.
Rayenvald agrees to find out the circumstances.
Upon returning home, during his investigation he encounters several more murders—just as not immediately obvious. It would seem the crimes have nothing to do with one another, but the investigator discovers that the victims were killed in ways recorded in Jeronimus Bosch’s sketch for the painting “The Group of Victims.” Three people have already been killed, and Rayenvald must identify the criminal before irreparable harm occurs and new blood is spilled.
After all, in the picture of the medieval “king of nightmares,” belonging to the richest man in Russia, the investigator found yet another hidden victim.
